 Self-love and self-care are two incredibly important things we must prioritise when maintaining a healthy relationship with ourselves. When we embrace self-love and care, we open up the opportunity to improve our wellbeing and self-confidence. 

 

Self-care is anything we intentionally do to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health.

Put your feet up

Taking time out to relax is what keeps us sane. Even if you haven't had a long or particularly hard day, we must take time to unwind and recharge our batteries - Kick those shoes off and put your feet up.

Relax, run a bath

Make this moment yours. Aim to prioritise even just half an hour of your day to focus on winding down, concentrating on you -Light some candles, add the bubbly and soak the stress away.

Detox

We instantly feel good when we take care of our bodies and pampering is a guaranteed way to reduce your levels of stress. Self-care is about spoiling yourself once in a while - Purchase a nice face mask.

Set the mood

Candles are scientifically proven to soothe us. Adding a selection of scented candles to your room will provide you with a calm ambiance that will de-stress both your body and mind.

Essential oils are often used to soothe and calm emotions. Similarly, they improve sleep, enhance mood and reduce stress. Oil diffusers are used to promote relaxation and are commonly used throughout the evening before falling asleep.

Isolation can cause a mixture of problems. Low mood, anxiety, irritability.  Withdrawing from other people can leave you feeling alone and worthless. However,  investing in self-care can even include organising a lunch date with friends. Getting out the house and being with others - Activity and interaction is key for positive wellbeing.

Ok, just one drink

My bedroom is comfortable. I’m protected. - NO.  Make a list of the friends in your life you want to connect with and start by scheduling with them. Good friendships promote health and happiness. We all need someone to lean on and It's important to experience feelings of belonging.
